Hypereikon

About the Artist

Hypereikon (María Constanza Lobos & Sebastián Rojas) is a computational arts duo based in Chile. Through generative performances and installations, they conduct an archaeology of the present, intertwining speculative ecologies and digital memory. Hypereikon approaches AI not as an automation tool, but as an "imaginative prosthesis": a mechanism to navigate latent spaces and reconfigure the information residues of the Technocene. Inspired by the extractive tensions of their own territories, they build immersive ecosystems where the organic and the algorithmic coexist in friction and symbiosis.

Hypereikon's practice unfolds through generative performances, installations, and video, articulating sound design, moving image, post-production, and live coding. Their work seeks not to represent nature, but to simulate the new conditions of existence in the Technocene: a zone where everything becomes filter, interpretation, and residue.

For the duo, contemporary reality is a system of signals and noise where no binary opposition exists between the organic and the artificial. In this landscape, Artificial Intelligence operates neither as a co-author nor an oracle, but as an imaginative prosthesis: a navigational instrument exercised against statistical hallucination and disinformation. Hypereikon does not idealize digital infrastructure; their gesture is one of critical appropriation, contesting visibility and insisting on human agency in the face of algorithmic extractivism dynamics.
